STAFF

Ray Meyers, Founder

A decorated combat Marine who served in Khe Sanh during the Tet Offensive, Ray struggled for years with DUIs, isolation, anger and anxiety.  As he began to deal with his issues and recognize his own PTSD, his life improved.  Volunteering for a local nonprofit, CareConnect, where he helped with the delivery of groceries to homebound adults helped in his ongoing and continuing recovery.  When he tried to visit a young veteran in jail for a DUI, at the request of the young veteran’s family, Ray learned that he couldn’t see the young man outside of regular visiting hours unless he was a minister, a therapist, or part of a nonprofit.  He decided to start VHVnow.

Judy Nogg, Co-Executive Director

I have been in the nonprofit sector for most of my adult life, except for a stint as a story analyst for the movie studios.  I have an undergrad degree from CU in Distributive Education (Sociology, Psychology, Political Science) and a Masters from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.  Married to a Vietnam veteran, I am very committed to participating in this great grass-roots organization.

Mary Ann Wilner, Co-Executive Director

Mary Ann Wilner brings many years of experience in non-profit organizations to her role as co-director of VHVnow. As a staff and board member and consultant to medium and small, established and growing organizations she has developed and evaluated programs, been resourceful in raising funds through grant development and events, engaged in policy advocacy with elder populations and direct care workers and assisted boards with organizational development. She especially enjoys working collaboratively with others in community outreach and creating responsive, flexible organizations. She has a doctorate in social welfare policy, a master's in human service management, and is certified in mediation.

Adam Sutton, AmeriCorps*Vista Volunteer

I grew up in Westminster Colorado and enlisted in the Marine Corps in May of 2004. While serving as an infantryman in 1/5 I deployed twice to Iraq and once as part of the 31st MEW. Currently I am a student studying for my Bachelors Degree in Business Finance. VHVNow has become a part of my life and has helped me overcome certain hardships associated with my time in the service. VHVNow has also helped me to understand some of the conditions veterans do suffer from and how important it is to face them.
